[Food Review] Grand Opening of Saboten, Millenia Walk, 27 April 2015

Howdy everyone!

I believe many of you might have heard about Saboten and knows that they used to have one outlet at Millenia Walk.

*They're one of the largest Tonkatsu chains with over 500 outlets in many countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and many more.
And...
They're finally BACK in Millenia Walk!!

I used to work at Parco, Millenia Walk and most of the time, I would go there for my lunch break.
The service was awesome and they've never once disappoint me with their food quality.

A meal which costs around S$20++ (depends on what you're ordering) and comes with free flow of miso soup, imported Japanese rice, and fresh cabbage!
It's so worth it!

It's always Hunwari Tenderloin Don for me. Always!
I'm a sucka for that.
I don't have to look at the menu to choose, it's always Hunwari Tenderloin Don!.
A loyal fan! teehee^^

I'm so glad they're finally back at Millenia Walk because It's just walking-distance away from my current workplace. *egg-cited*

I'm so lucky to be able to attend and witness their grand opening!

Read on because they're having a great promotion right now!!

At the Grand Opening of Saboten, Millenia Walk..

Special drum performance for all the VIPs and invited guests.

Opening Speech from one of the directors of Saboten.

It's really an eye-opening ceremony!

We get to try the sake and wow, it's strong!

Finally it's meal time!
We get to try out their extensive food menu and I'm impressed!

Mix of Ebi Katsu and their most popular, Pork Loin Katsu just for the two of us!
Super generous!

Le Boyfriend was sharing with me how he fell in love with their cabbage
(*he hates his greens but fell in love with Saboten's Fresh Cabbage!)

Credit me okay, I introduce Saboten to him one. *proud*

After meal dessert.

We were already super full by then.
I can say it's really refreshing and a good way to end the meal!

Thank you Saboten Singapore for having us!
We, and our tummy, enjoyed very much!

And guess what,

They're having a super duper good promotion!

[Lifestyle] JB 2D1N getaway - City Square Mall, Taman Sentosa Food and Things to do

Hey guys,

Where did you go for your Labour Day holidays?
It was a long weekend for many of us.
Well, I was practically still working on that day but went to Johor Bahru the next day morning for my escapade. :)
There's really alot of things to do in JB.
We had it planned way before going in.
We'd booked our hotel room way before this planned trip so that we know our room was reserved. Kiasu indeed. haha!
Play safe lah huh, you know it's really hard to predict especially you do not know the country so well. (I only go JB like 3-4 times a year just for shopping and food and it's always a day trip!)

This time round is just more of a chilling trip. Didn't really plan to go drinking that night.
Maybe next time round with friends. :)

So here's what we roughly planned..
To-Do List:
- Watch Movie (Avengers: Age of Ultrons .. Wah MUST-WATCH!)
- Food (duh?!)
- Watch Man United Football Match
- Sleep
- Food again...
- Buy Goodies back for parent
- Buy whatever!

haha!

Went to Bugis bus terminal to board the bus.
SG-JB custom
Ticket was S$3.30 one-way.

Passed the JB custom, we head over to City Square Mall to purchase the movie tickets.
Kiasu the tickets sold out or seats available are miserable
so we bought early.
(Movie at 7:15pm,we bought at 2:30pm lol!)

Don't say I don't share hor...

Here's the new Cathay movie ticket prices:
It was weekend so we paid RM18 for each ticket.

At time of trip, the exchange rate was 2.69 so each ticket was a mere SGD6.70?!

Where to get sia?!

After getting our tickets, we were pretty hungry (we didn't had anything in the morning, except an ice cream with bread from the ice cream uncle at Bugis Mrt carpark), I suggested having Arashi hotpot restaurant for our brunch.

It was Melvin's first time. :)
Had the Salmon/Pork & Salmon/Chicken set with Tomyam Broth/Herbal Broth.
2 Drinks: Golden tea Ice Drink (mine) and Ice Lemon Tea (his)
Add on: Slice Pork Collar
Resulting the bill to be about RM104 so in SGD is about S$38.70.

Slightly on the high side but it's very filling and the soup was sedap!

*yeap, I removed my hair extensions. Back to mid-length hair.

Our drinks.
The Ice Lemon Tea was pretty different from the other places we'd tried before.
It's refreshing and not sweet at all.

The Golden tea drink was really made of real tea leaves and flowers.
No sweetness at all but it's pretty good for cooling down.

After our meal at Arashi, We walk around, had our hair trimmed at Reds.

Well, I won't say it was a great experience there or what but I won't visit that salon again. EVER.
The guy that assisted Melvin and me was literally busy bringing in customers, cutting our hair, asking his colleagues or staff (I suppose he's the shop owner or at least a manager there) to tidy up the place after doing their job for their customer and blar blar... ALL AT ONCE! Like hello, you asked us to wait, we waited, And when it's our turn, he just do a swift job, anyhow do one. -_-'''
The price list on the counter stated
RM40nett for Males and Females RM48 and above BUT....

My hair length was just touching the shoulder and all he needs to do was just trimming my hair ends and layer it which he did it very fast because his focus was everywhere and I got charged RM65+.

wtf..

Fine, it's fine though.. But when we are done and ready to pay, he says our bills got to add GST.
He separated our bills which I thought the male's bill would be RM40nett.
I was WRONG!

I was like huh? Okay? If you're charging me with GST I'm pretty fine but your price list stated for guys is nett price and you're charging him GST too?

Seriously not very professional.
Plus he did hurt Melvin several times when he trimmed his hair on the sides because he was in rush to reprimand his staff or colleagues or whatever. Melvin had to remind him to go slow and not in a rush and have to ask him to trim gently. People's head leh hello. -_-'''

Never going back*

Anyway, after that bad encounter, we went shopping around.
That really helps calm me down. haha!

He bought a pair of casual shoes at only RM49.90 ( SGD18.55).
Pretty good deal I must say.
And I bought some eyeliners and makeup from Sasa and Watson's.
No picture because lazy to take. heh heh.

Made him take a picture with Hulk at Action City and he pose like this for me. LOL!

Oh!!

If you're always going home late or suspecting someone stalking you home, you can get this!
Pepper Spray!
I don't know if it's legal or what to buy this back to SG but it seems pretty legit since Watson's in JB sells it yah.

Watched the movie.. omg! Super nice! I was enjoying every bit of it and yah, even my 'neighbor' was shaking his leg, I enjoyed it. haha!
Took a cab to our hotel to check in.

No hotel photos because I don't quite like the idea of taking pictures in hotel room especially when it's dark at night. I scared lah okay.

After leaving our things in the hotel room, we head to the coffee shop opposite for our dinner.

*p.s: Don't mind my photo-taking because I was taking the food photos in a dark environment, I have to take them in flash aiyah you get what I mean. heehee.

This is basically right opposite our hotel, Grand Sentosa Hotel located at Taman Sentosa.
The popular hawker where there's stalls selling Zi-Char and Beggar Chicken?
Yeap, it's pretty near there, or rather it's approximately a 10mins walk.

And this is like da bomb there!
Barbeque and green chili goes super well. Blogging this now makes me salivate already omg.

These are just some of the yummies you can pick, there's pretty much of a good variety there you can choose from. But don't say I never remind you, You gotta wait for your order to be served and it might take pretty long because some other tables already picked their items and they really pick alot lah can. Like mountain-full sticks of food!
Must-order that chicken meat look alike haha.
I really don't know what's that called but it's damn yummy!
this plate of delicious costs only RM19!! SGD$7 only!!

Must dip this green chili sauce!

Ordered stir-fry lala.
Nice~
Sambal fried rice because my boy loves sambal fried rice.
It rhymes~ haha!

Sambal four season beans.
Crunchy but a tad lil oily.
Still, it's nice~

All these for less than RM 60= SGD22.30.
wO_Ow

Went to De Cave for some light refreshments after our dinner.
Located just beside our hotel.
Watched a depressing Man united Match that night.
Very sad that Man united didn't win.
There's live band going on and the lady sing pretty well.
He drank beer while I have orange juice.
Rained that night too.

Off to hotel to chill and zzz.

NEXT DAY~~~

Checked out of our hotel at 12noon and headed to the other side towards the famous hawker to check out some food places for brunch.

Settled for their local economic rice stall.

Very simple fare but it's good enough to start our day :)

Headed back to City Square by cab and went to buy some yummy goodies for our parent
before we go back to SG.
These bought from a store, Mika. They have quite a good range of designed and yummy sponge rolled cakes!
Like it that the cream's not too sweet and they're pretty cute!

Had to head back to SG early for my mum's birthday dinner.

Oh!
If you're going to head back to Queen Street via the Causeway link Buses, do get small change in Ringgits though they accept Singapore dollars but ringgits more worth mah.

RM3.40 back to SG Queen Street, S$3.40 Back to Sg Queen Street.
Which one you think worth?

DUH!
So do remember to get some small change before going to the custom.
*Those guys in CW uniforms will NOT help you change your notes! so
GIVE EXACT OK!

Will share some photos on that occasion soon too!

Oh! I didn't forget about my Hongkong trip as well.

Will be sharing very soon. :)

Till then,

[Sponsored beauty review] bSoul Hydra-lip - an essential for humid weather and travelling!

Just wondering if any ladies/gentlemen out there suffers from chapped lips or even dry, flaky lips that hurts?

I know the above photo probably was one of the worst but trust me, I've had experience before and  sometimes I do tend to peel the 'flaky skin' off  when I daze and ......causes it to bleed. OUCH!

Some of you that follows me might have already know I just got back from my Hong Kong trip and I was complaining about the cold and strong winds.
In my mind I was hoping Singapore can at least be in 'air-condition' temperature, you know, Singaporean.

Was checking on the temperature for Hong Kong while in SG, it was showing a cooling clear 26-27 degrees for day and so I didn't think much and just brought along only a pullover and a hoodie jacket, some sleeveless dresses and essentials. The temperature changes just when we landed in Hong Kong airport reporting it as 19 Degrees Celsius!

Just imagine walking along the street in broad daylight with temperature at 18-19 degrees with strong wind blow.... and at night? Lucky that we went shopping in Mongkok where there's many tall buildings surrounding so it's not that bad plus I just keep stuffing myself  with food to keep warm! lol!
But I can't be relying on food right?

Shivers, in need of water, hands and lips so dry.
I had to keep on applying hand cream.

*Yeap, I can't take hot weathers and cold especially sudden change of weather! I'll fall sick very easily. That's why Melvin have to always accommodate to my needs and making sure I feel comfy when I stay over. He can just wear a long sleeve shirt to The Peak still feeling 'OKAY~' while me piling up a pullover, hoodie jacket and still feel cold. -_-'''

Here I would like to share this amazing lip care with you that uses natural ingredients to moisturize and care for your lips!

Was telling Melvin how grateful I am that this amazing lip-care came in-time for this trip, and was so compact and super useful that I have to bring it along everywhere now!

Do you know that some of the lip balms that we are using/used to use form a synthetic film over the surface of the lips, causing us to think that our lips are properly moisturized? Such ingredients do not work any further than just the surface and may even cause our own body and skin to forget to function by itself!

Took this photo while I was in the cable car towards Lantau Island and oh my..
was uber cold and raining and foggy and.......
I couldn't see any scenery at all! No greens, no sea.. nothing! Like as if I'm floating in clouds~

I can feel my hands and my lip so dry and numb!

Applying the hydra-lip!

I like how bSoul is the first eco-friendly phytoceutical cosmetic line that also certified by ICEA (Environmental and Ethical Certification Institute).
It is very important to know what we're applying on our face and body.

Nowadays there's so many chemicals used in all skincare cosmetics.
This is really good as there's no parabens, silicons, petrolatum, paraffin, SLES and they don't test on animals! :)

Here's the ingredients:

Aqua [Water], Persea gratissima (Avocado) oil, Cetearyl alcohol, Glycerin, Xylitol, Cetearyl glucoside, Hydrogenated olive oil, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea butter) butter, Sodium stearoyl lactylate, Brassica alba seed extract, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit unsaponifiables, Citrus aurantium dulcis (Orange) peel oil, Tocopherol, Sodium hyaluronate, Ascorbyl palmitate, Lecithin, Xanthan gum, Limonene, Citric acid, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium benzoate, Sodium dehydroacetate.
Rich creamy texture that glides on my lips very well, creating a natural protective coat that lasts longer than any lip balms.
Not sticky, greasy at all!

A little goes a long way~

No complains at all from le bf.
His feedback? Soft and moisturize lips not like before.. so dry.
Thank ah! -_-'''

..:: Usage :: ..
Apply the cream on the lips throughout the day (under or over lipstick) and massage until completely absorbed.

Note: If you have been using a lot of lip products made with synthetic ingredients, the initial stage of using Hydra-Lip, you will find flakes coming off as you massage the cream into your lips. It is normal as those could be the “dead skin” or even those silicons that other products contain.

..:: PRICE ::..

Retails at SGD$52

[Sponsored Food Review] Aone Claypot House featuring their newly launched and must order dishes at Kallang Wave Mall.

It's been just a few months that Kallang Wave Mall has officially opened and what really impress me was that you can find most of various popular food joints in this mall.

Not only located very conveniently beside Stadium Circle Line, you can even head to Kallang Leisure Park which also located nearby for some after-meal movies or bowling.

You will never complain about having nothing to do if you visit that area.

*
*
*

Earlier in March, Some of the bloggers were invited for a tasting session at one of the popular food joint which caters a wide range of Claypot dishes and many other comfort food.

Featuring AOne Claypot House!

I believe it's not new to many locals however, if you've not been to AOne Claypot House, then scroll down to find out some of my reviews on their dishes!

I've been to many Claypot restaurants before but AOne Claypot House indeed serves an even more extensive and wider range of claypot dishes for you to choose from.
Definitely spoilt for choices!

Brought along my boy to the food tasting session.
He's not a fan of salted eggs and century eggs and always remove them or scooping them up to pass to me.  -_-'"

We were seated at a corner of the restaurant and Vincent, the representative of AOne Claypot House ran through the presentation slides with us to let us know more about the brand.

They'd came up with some new add-ons into their menu and I can tell you it's superb!

Assorted Vegetables in Sambal Sauce

French Bean, Long Beans, Lady Fingers, Egg-plant
stir fried with minced meat in Sambal Chili sauce

It's probably one of my must-order dish if I were to be back again!
Great for those who enjoys spicy dishes.
It's flavorful, not too oily!
Crunchy, slight salted and taste great when you combine it with a pot of porridge!

Fish Maw stuffed with Minced Meat in Fish Roe Sauce

Pretty decorated.
The broccoli stays crunchy, the sauce does not overpowers the entire dish and that's good because you get to taste the original flavor of the meat and fish maw.
The meat itself was tender and juicy, and I like the combination of fish maw and mince meat!

A well-balanced dish I would say!

NEXT UP..

Dried Scallop Porridge with Minced Meat & Assorted Eggs (Century Egg, Salted Egg, Egg)

The porridge so soft and silky smooth, it literally melts in your mouth. The clay-pot was great for containing the heat and making the porridge's temperature last even longer.

It's a very appetizing dish, I believe it's because of the salted egg, yet the porridge doesn't taste too salty and goes very well with many other dishes in-store.

One of our favorite dish! Even Melvin was pretty impress as well because he don't like salted eggs and century eggs and will always dig them out and pass to me. -_-'''
However, he finished his portion and even asked for more!

That goes to show how tasty it is!
*I bet if his mum saw this will be like, " Serious???"
Yes auntie! He really finishes his portion! TEEHEE :)

Seeing him enjoying his meal at the tasting session really makes me smile!

*
*
*
Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish
Smoking hot!
It's not really spicy in my opinion but to my table-mates, they only tasted a few mouthful and .. they let me have them haha! So for those who can really take spicy, probably you might want to have it with a bowl of plain porridge/rice.
The pork belly was well-sliced, tender and flavorful. Good!

Hotplate Ginger Deer Meat

The deer meat was tender and the sauce was made just right without overpowering its juicy texture and natural flavor. I would prefer to have this dish with a bowl of white rice or a plain porridge where you can scoop up the sauce and adds it into your rice/porridge. Simple but satisfying.

Pork Floss "Chai Po" Omelette

One of the new add-on!
The pork floss gives the egg an additional texture.
And yes, egg and porridge traditionally goes well together!
I like it as it's not too oily and the egg was fried to a pretty golden brown.

You must be wondering what's beneath the omelette as it seems like it's popped up.
It's fresh cabbage for those who love their greens. :)

Clear stock soup with Spinach and Meat Balls

I actually ordered this to let Melvin and my table-mates to try because I've ever had this before last year with my family at their Chinatown Point outlet and both my parents love it.

Melvin always love meat balls/ fish balls, spinach and soup.
This is like a 3 in 1 for him and I'm glad he likes it! :)
Very healthy dish indeed because it's not salty at all, and there's generous amount of wolf-berries.

Fried Eggplants with Pork Floss

I think I'm in love with this dish. It's one of the dish where you can't stop having it!
Fried into this pretty golden brown, the pork floss adds a nice flavor and texture to this dish!

My table-mates and I love this dish! :)
Must-order!

Deep Fried Pumpkin and Lotus Root with Creamy Salted Egg Sauce

Another favorite!
The outer layer of the deep fried pumpkin remains crisp even after the salted egg sauce was poured over it. Soft in the inside, the sauce definitely adds another feels to it.

Assorted Dried Fruits Tea

A naturally sweet and healthy way to end our meal!
It's a sweet infusion of mix dried fruits that was soothing and refreshing.

This pot of goodness are great for sharing and after meals!
