[Food Review + Promotions] Oyster Bar & Grill Wharf at Robertson Quay, Singapore

Hey Everyone,

It's been a long time since I review on food.
So here it is.. One of my latest find which located conveniently at Robertson Quay.

Introducing Oyster Bar & Grill Wharf...

You might thought an Oyster bar only serves oysters but it also features a fusion of Japanese and Western dishes, seafood and tapas.

They too have an extensive range of Mojito that suits every individuals!

I chose Yuzu Mojito for the night because it was recommended by dearest Stella, the host of the evening. :)
It's refreshing and citrus-y, yet have that little kick in it! :)
Great pairing to go with your oysters.

Yuzu Mojito is just that one out of the many 100 different types of mojitos they offer,
did I even mention they too have an international collection of 100 wine, mocktails, beer, beverages etc....!!

How can you go to an Oyster Bar without trying their Oysters?!

And the best part is that they serve it with truffle oil!
Raw Oyster Platter
($36++ for 6; $69++ for a dozen)
Sauces: truffle oil, ponzu

It's pretty common to pair your oysters with Tabasco sauce.
Do give the truffle oil a try. Taste flavorful and you'll be impressed :)

[Do You Know?]

Oysters are filled with health and beauty benefits!
Oysters are low in fat, high in protein, an aphrodisiac and a good source of essential nutrients such as zinc, vitamin E, magnesium and potassium!
oysters are loaded with zinc and when combined with Vitamin C, this helps to increase elastin production. (Elastin is an important skin protein.)

I'm so gonna benefit by eating this oysters! COME TO ME~

Brought along Melvin as he has never tried oysters before.
He was telling me how oysters might taste like and how slimy it is when it's raw and blar blar blar..

But when he tried one of the fresh oysters, he didn't stop there.
He was totally sold!

See how happy he is.. haha*

Scallop and Mushroom Ajillo ($12.50)
Slightly saltish but the fragrant of the garlic olive oil will make you want to have more.
I kinda like this dish, You can have it on it's own or dip the bread into the sauce.

Wharf Fried Oysters  (2pc $9.90, 4pc $16.00)
If you can't take any raw oysters, this is definitely good and worth trying.
Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside and the best part: Freshness still stays!

Grilled Oyster Platter ($8 each, 4pc $28)

The grilled oyster platter will definitely satisfy your taste buds!
You get to choose 4 ways of preparing your oyster; Garlic Butter, Lemon, Egg Miso and Ponzu

Wharf style Quesadilla ($16.50)

If you like to have some tapas to share with your kakis, try this.
Slightly oily but the mojitos will wash the oiliness away. I'm not really a fan of tapas but Melvin was raving saying that this is nicer then the one we tried at some place previously.
He has a picky taste bud too so.. yup. haha!

Want something light?

Steam Bagna Cauda with original sauce ($16.00)
Sauce contains: Anchovy, garlic, White Wine, Milk, Butter

Dipping your steam greens into the thick original sauce or just having it on it's own.
The sauce does not overpower the natural taste of the veggies and still keep its crunchiness.

 Traditional Homemade Sangria ($8.80)
Red/White Wine punch with real fruits such as apple and pineapples.
I like the red one more than the white though.

Clam steamed with white wine ($16.00)
The sauce is the ultimate kill! It has garlic butter thus the flavor was so strong that you just want to have more. One of the dish I'll go back for.

Grilled Iberian Pork with Fond De Veau Sauce ($22.00)
Another one dish I will go back for because its really tasty, the meat is so tender and flavorful.
Love the crunchiness of the meat and the sauce goes very well with it, even Melvin loves this dish alot. :)

 Truffle Flavor French Fries ($14.00)
You can never say no to truffle fries!
It's definitely one great sides to go along with your mojitos or drinks while chatting away.

 Garlic Butter Rice ($12.00)
I've always love garlic because of its health benefits and also the flavor that helps to enhance every dish.
This is one of the dish that's flavorful enough and it does fill you up.

Indeed another great experience!
*I'm already drooling for more oysters as I type!*

Hi everyone!
Just to share about a place which got into my food hunt list recently.

Got invited to Café De Hong Kong’s CNY tasting thanks to Jodie and her team from Wheretoeat Singapore.

Café De Hong Kong, started in 2007, serves Hong Kong styled home-cooked cuisines prepared by Hong Kong Chefs.

Your mood will get liven up just by seeing those colorful art pieces in the restaurant done by
 General Manager, Francis Mak's daughter!

How about this 3-D art? Cute huh!

WE ARE!!

Here's the first dish:

Braised  Shark Fin's Soup with Chicken Slice

Zerika-says: The soup was thick and tasty even without adding vinegar and pepper.
Served with generous portion of ingredients such as Scallop, Shark's Fin, Chicken Slice and so on.

Steamed Soon Hock Fish in Hong Kong Style:

Zerika-says: Soon Hock Fish was very fresh.
The fish meat was steamed to slight pinkish color in order to taste the freshness of the fish and the sauce was not too salty as well.
A very popular way of cooking fresh fish in Hong Kong.

Pen Cai Claypot consists of
Dried Oysters, Goose Web, Prawn Ball, Sotong, Abalone, Chinese Mushroom, Sea Cucumbers, Fa Cai, Chicken, Roasted Duck, Dried Scallop, Radish and Vegetables.

Zerika-Says: When the cover was removed by the friendly and helpful staff, immediately everyone's eyes were on the goodies! Oh my, layers and layers of goodies in this claypot totally makes everyone salivates. It's always good to have Pen Cai for Chinese New Year as it's also being known as Abundance of Wealth and Treasure pot.

All ingredients were separately prepared. One ingredient that really surprised me was the goose web that was added in this dish. It was really a great combination with good portions of tasty and succulent delicacies in a pot! A good serving for a family of 4-6.
One of the Must-Order!

Lap Cheong, Yun Cheong, Lap Yuk

Zerika-Says : Here we tried 3 types of sausages made of  Duck Liver aka Yun Cheong, Pork Belly aka Lap Yuk and Lap Cheong aka Chinese Sausage. Lap Cheong aka Chinese Sausage, generic term referring to the many different types of sausages originating in China mainly made of Pork/Livers and is one of the popular Cantonese dish that not only best eaten with rice, they use it to cook claypot rice and others such as fried rice.

Among the three, I would go for the Lap Cheong because it's not as oily compared to the other two and its flavors are just right, while the Yun Cheong was a little strong in taste.

 Fragrant Fish Roe Fried Rice

Zerika-says: I usually do not eat rice or at least opt out of any rice dishes because of Carb but this fried rice gets my point and definitely is one of the best I've tasted so far. Very flavorful and you can taste the fish roe bursting in your mouth every time you chew.
Dried Scallop adds in the oomph in this dish so best is to mix it well!

 Golden Salted Egg Prawn

Zerika Says: This dish was a little oily to my liking. However, the prawns are well-done, moist and flavors was being absorbed into the flesh. I tried eating it with the shell and it tastes great.

Good to order prawn dishes during Chinese New Year because it means..
哈哈大笑
(haha or happy things happening which makes you laugh/smile)!
Good meaning eh?

:)

We had an enjoyable evening that night with a bunch of food lovers!

[Food Review] PODI at Raffles City Shopping Centre - serving all day breakfast and grills

Hello everyone!
I know I've not been updating my blog as often but rest assured, I will do so now because I have many things to share with you guys!

I was invited to a newly open restaurant, setup by the Bakery Depot who brought us Cedele and now is already one month old, at Raffles City Shopping Centre, PODI earlier in October 2013.

Food and drinks which we'd tasted that night :)

I will start with the Eggs & Waffles...

Baked Egg Pots
Baked eggs with chorizo and goat cheese in tomato sauce.

Zerika says: The egg does neutralize the salty taste of the chorizo, well done on this dish but it's not one of my favorite.

I had rose bud tea to accompany with the tasting. Rose bud tea is popular among the ladies for its beauty benefits. :)

Next up,

Duck Berry Waffle
Waffles topped with gourmet duck confit served with egg, blueberry compote & maple syrup vinaigrette

Zerika says: I would say that this dish is quite an unique one where you get to taste the sweet and slightly sour blueberry accompanied along with the waffle and the duck confit is tender enough.
This dish is a little dry and breaking the egg yolk to let it run does the trick. :)

Stuffed French Toast
Spinach brioche with eggs, smoked ham, brie cheese and maple syrup

Zerika says: This is one of my favorite dish of the night. Great for brunch and it's not just an ordinary ham and cheese sandwich, it's panned with spinach brioche with eggs and along with greens. I didn't add any maple syrup because I feel that it's taste great enough.

Next will be the Salad...

Prawn & Crab Spinach Salad

Baby spinach, grilled prawns , crab meat, lemon zest drizzled with peppermint and lemon vinaigrette

Zerika says: I actually love greens so this is good for me. However, I would definitely love it if there's more salad dressing instead as its a little drying for me. Otherwise, its good.

Chicken Pot

Chicken thigh simmered in a pastry pot with potato and seasonal vegetables served with toast

Zerika Says: Chicken thigh so tender and yummy. The sauce is neither too salty nor tasteless, its pretty good actually. Served with toast and salad, its a healthy meal indeed.
If I were to go back to Podi, I will order this.

Argentina Sirloin Steak

Argentina steak grilled till medium with chimichurri & mustard cream sauce with 2 sides

Zerika says: Honestly speaking, I don't take beef (yes, it's because of religion) but because I want to share with you the taste of it, I had taken a small bite of it. The beef is a little tougher than I thought. I would prefer it to be a little tender than tough. it's really tiring to chew though.

(*I will only eat beef if i'm outside of house and only when it's for tasting purpose. Other than that, no..)

Alright, show you my face. haha!

If you're having beef for your meal, do remember to order a glass of wine to go along with. :)

Mexican Spiced Hat
Nigella-spiced meringue thins with 2 scoops of ice-cream

Zerika Says: This pretty decorated dessert definitely a great way to end your meal. We had sorbets that night and it was totally refreshing. How can you resist this temptations huh?
The Nigella-spiced Meringue adds a little touch of spice and it taste pretty okay with the sorbets.

Whoopie Pie
Two cake-like cookies with a creamy, orange earl grey flavored filling

Zerika Says: It looks kinda like an ice cream sandwich doesn't it?
Well, Overall it taste not too bad but I would prefer the filling to be an ice cream or at least served cold.
