[ Korean + Hong Kong Drama ] You who came from the stars and Glided Chopsticks

Hey all,

I've been exceptionally addicted to these two on-going Kdrama and HK Drama and would like to share with you all!

First of all, K-Drama (Korean Drama)

*
*
*
별에서 온 그대 / Byeoleseo On Geudae
Also known as: You Came From the Stars / My Lover From The Stars / You From Another Star / My Love From Another Star
Genre: Romance, comedy, fantasy, melodrama
Episodes: 21
Broadcast network: SBS
Broadcast period: 2013-Dec-18 to 2014-Feb-20

Main Cast
Jun Ji Hyun as Chun Song Yi (28, top actress/university student)
Kim Hyun Soo as young Chun Song Yi / Seo Yi Hwa
Kim Soo Hyun as Do Min Joon (alien/university professor)
Park Hae Jin as Lee Hwi Kyung (28, youngest son of S&C Group)
Jo Seung Hyun (조승현) as young Lee Hwi Kyung
Yoo In Na as Yoo Se Mi (28, supporting actress)

Do Min Joon is an alien who came to earth in 1609 and lands in the Joseon era, then lives through the next four hundred years to the present day where he works as university professor and falls in love with a haughty top hallyu actress, Chun Song Yi.

I really love how the drama started where the young Chun Song Yi was rescued and protected by Alien Do Min Joon!

Jun Ji Hyun, I can say, is a very good actress!
Very real, Very her.

While he was trying to protect her from harm, he fell deeply in love with her but he's very worried that he will have to leave this earth for good pretty soon.

He's very sensitive to human saliva because it will temporarily reduce his power of able to hear from far, place/time travels and many more..

But he couldn't resist kissing Chun Song Yi.

Well, tell me who can! If I'm a boy, I surely want her by my side!

We are looking forward to the end and hoping it's a happy ending!

It's still airing so...Go watch it!

It's super romantic, funny and cute!

Next up,

Another drama from Hong Kong..

食為奴  / Sic Wai Nu
English title: Glided Chopstick
Genre: Costume comedy
Episodes: 25
Producer: Wong Wai Sing (The Academy Trilogy, Queens of Diamonds & Hearts, Inbound Troubles)
Production Company: TVB
Broadcast Date: February 10, 2014 - March 14, 2014

KO TIN BO (Wong Cho Lam / 王祖蓝) had been an experienced eater since youth, he knows everything about food and the taste as soon as it goes into his mouth. Unfortunately due to a family crisis, he and his loyal follower LEE WAI (Jack Wu) were forced to wander the streets and made a living off selling buns.

Because of food, TIN BO met a female street entertainer GEI MO SUET (Joey Meng), the Capital's most beautiful woman LIN YEUK BIK (Nancy Wu) and female chef MAI SIU YUE (Stephanie Ho).

I really love Wong Cho Lam. He's so good at singing and his acting is like Da-Best (in my opinion). Maybe I like him because of his jovial and funny character! Very lively!

It is also because of fate that he encountered the Fourth Royal Prince YAN CHAN (Ben Wong) who discovered his talent and recommended him to the palace to work as a palace chef. In the palace, TIN BO meets his old enemy CHOI HOK TING (Bob Lam) and set off a series of battles in the kitchen.

TIN BO also didn't know he was getting himself involved in the Eighth Royal Prince YAN YIK's (Louis Cheung) evil plot.

This Drama is still airing too and it's only till episode 6 for now.

This two is still my priority dramas ,will share more the next time yo..

[Food Review] Where To Eat Singapore - Cafe de Hong Kong Chinese New Year (CNY) Menu 2014

Hi everyone!
Just to share about a place which got into my food hunt list recently.

Got invited to Café De Hong Kong’s CNY tasting thanks to Jodie and her team from Wheretoeat Singapore.

Café De Hong Kong, started in 2007, serves Hong Kong styled home-cooked cuisines prepared by Hong Kong Chefs.

Your mood will get liven up just by seeing those colorful art pieces in the restaurant done by
 General Manager, Francis Mak's daughter!

How about this 3-D art? Cute huh!

Are you ready for the food review?

WE ARE!!

Here's the first dish:

Braised  Shark Fin's Soup with Chicken Slice

Zerika-says: The soup was thick and tasty even without adding vinegar and pepper.
Served with generous portion of ingredients such as Scallop, Shark's Fin, Chicken Slice and so on.

Steamed Soon Hock Fish in Hong Kong Style:

Zerika-says: Soon Hock Fish was very fresh.
The fish meat was steamed to slight pinkish color in order to taste the freshness of the fish and the sauce was not too salty as well.
A very popular way of cooking fresh fish in Hong Kong.

Pen Cai Claypot consists of
Dried Oysters, Goose Web, Prawn Ball, Sotong, Abalone, Chinese Mushroom, Sea Cucumbers, Fa Cai, Chicken, Roasted Duck, Dried Scallop, Radish and Vegetables.

Zerika-Says: When the cover was removed by the friendly and helpful staff, immediately everyone's eyes were on the goodies! Oh my, layers and layers of goodies in this claypot totally makes everyone salivates. It's always good to have Pen Cai for Chinese New Year as it's also being known as Abundance of Wealth and Treasure pot.

All ingredients were separately prepared. One ingredient that really surprised me was the goose web that was added in this dish. It was really a great combination with good portions of tasty and succulent delicacies in a pot! A good serving for a family of 4-6.
One of the Must-Order!

Lap Cheong, Yun Cheong, Lap Yuk

Zerika-Says : Here we tried 3 types of sausages made of  Duck Liver aka Yun Cheong, Pork Belly aka Lap Yuk and Lap Cheong aka Chinese Sausage. Lap Cheong aka Chinese Sausage, generic term referring to the many different types of sausages originating in China mainly made of Pork/Livers and is one of the popular Cantonese dish that not only best eaten with rice, they use it to cook claypot rice and others such as fried rice.

Among the three, I would go for the Lap Cheong because it's not as oily compared to the other two and its flavors are just right, while the Yun Cheong was a little strong in taste.

 Fragrant Fish Roe Fried Rice

Zerika-says: I usually do not eat rice or at least opt out of any rice dishes because of Carb but this fried rice gets my point and definitely is one of the best I've tasted so far. Very flavorful and you can taste the fish roe bursting in your mouth every time you chew.
Dried Scallop adds in the oomph in this dish so best is to mix it well!

 Golden Salted Egg Prawn

Zerika Says: This dish was a little oily to my liking. However, the prawns are well-done, moist and flavors was being absorbed into the flesh. I tried eating it with the shell and it tastes great.

Good to order prawn dishes during Chinese New Year because it means..
哈哈大笑
(haha or happy things happening which makes you laugh/smile)!
Good meaning eh?

:)

[Food Review] One of the Best Dim Sum in Singapore, to me - Yum Cha Garden at Serangoon Garden Country Club

Hey everyone,

I hope October's been good for you guys so far because it's been good for me. :)

Gonna share with you guys one of my favorite restaurant that I usually visit to satisfy my Dim Sum cravings.

Yeap, It's Yum Cha and it has to be the one located at Serangoon Garden Country Club.

Why am I a regular there?
I'm basically a sucker for chili. All my meals got to have chili to go along with. And I super love Yum Cha's Sambal Chili.
This is one of the best Sambal I've ever had so far in my life. I'M SERIOUS!
*this is not even a paid ad and all base on my opinion. :)

The Sambal is THUMBS UP!

*

*

*

The ones that I usually order when I'm there..

Yum Cha "Sea Treasure" Dumpling
鱼翅灌汤饺

I love soup so I will usually order this because there's so many ingredients in one huge wanton!
Prawns, Scallops, Shark's fin and mushrooms to name a few.
I love how the soup taste so sweet when I break the wanton skin and letting the goodness of the seafood oozes out!

BBQ Pork Bun
蚝皇叉燒包

I don't usually have buns when I have Dim Sums because i always think that it's pretty filling to have a bun and the other food you've ordered will come to waste. But to my surprise, this is good.
Yes, it 's still quite filling for some people but this is quite well-done. The bun itself is very soft and the ingredients in it is not too salty or sweet.

Steam Creamy Custard Bun
流沙奶皇包

Oozing out those golden goodness is simply divine. To be honest, I always find it a challenge to eat Custard bun because it might get messy. Imagine the creamy custard inside the bun is hot that you want to be very careful with your first bite yet it oozes out and spill on the table and if you're not lucky, it might spill on your clothes. I remember the first time having custard bun and I actually dirtied my top. Lucky i was wearing a black top at that time. phew~ But it's good.

Prawn & Chicken Dumpling in Spicy Sauce
川汁酸辣饺

My *must-order! This taste so good especially when you have it with the chili padi. Hot, spicy and sour at the same time. Or like what most Singaporeans will say, "Shiok!" But I suggest you have it when it's served straight. it's nice when its warm but when it's cooling down, it's not that spicy.

Steamed Pork Ribs with Yam
芋魚蒸排骨

The Pork Ribs here has more meat than ribs, which is good!
Not too salty at all and the pork rib is tender and tastier. Pumpkin is soft and with flavor as well.
I've tasted very oily Pork Ribs dish before but here, it's really not oily at all. The Yam has absorbed the sauce and taste really good and soft.

Xiao Long Bao
小笼包

The Xiao Long Bao here, however, did not meet my expectations.
I would prefer Din Tai Feng's though.

XO Fried Carrot Cake

This was added as a new temporary additions and I like it alot.
It's flavorful and tasty, you might just end up having it all by yourself.
It's not too oily and you can taste the slight spiciness and the xo sauce was just right for the great taste.
In my opinion, this should be in the menu. Fix!

Siew Mai with Fish Roe
魚子蒸燒賣

One of my favorite must-order dim sum! I've tried many places, including those suppose to be popular and good, but this win hands down! The fish roe is generous portion, and each siew mai has a piece of 1 whole prawn, yes, it's not half, not cut-up and mixed sort but 1 whole prawn of it. Chewy and tasty, add abit of Sambal on top or simply dip into it. You'll not regret, i tell you.
I'm very picky with my siew mais so if there's better one out there, share with me.
I shall test test myself... ah huh!

 Deep Fried Shrimp Dumpling
鮮果明蝦角

Who doesn't love Deep fried shrimp dumpling when its done right?

Fried to perfection! Love prawns? gotta order this.
I love the crispy outer layer yet it's not oily, kudos to the chefs.
I love how generous they are with their ingredients like you will see not one but 2 prawns in it, and it tastes so deliciously fresh, really worth it!

Prawns...(*I'm salivating while typing this post. gosh! Maintain ah Zerika)

When I tweet saying craving for Dim Sum, Yum Cha always come to my mind.
Just love the sambal chili that can go with almost all dishes.

Shall visit very very soon after I recover from my sore throat and cough! :)

[Health Product] Vita Green - Vita Yin Yang Cordyceps Sinesis, The ultimate Kidney and Lung enhancer.

Do you always feel tired easily?
Always coughing and have difficulty in breathing?
Having to take medications and still coughing badly?

It might because your lungs are already giving you some signals that it needs some nourishment.

As for me, I have very little clue on what Chinese herbs are and what they actually do.
All I know was those simple basic ones like Chrysanthemum and barley. I do remember there was a few times, I was having a bad cough that last me weeks, about 2 months to be exact. You know that coughing for about 2 weeks is already bad enough, and when you go to the doctors, they usually either give you cough syrups to suppress the cough, or they will give anti-biotics to fight and kill the virus within your body. Knowing that anti-biotics are really the last resort, I usually try not to have it at all.
(Anti-biotics will fight and kill those healthy and unhealthy cells altogether.)

My mum has always been into Chinese herbs and she's the expert here.
She ever told me that since I know I can easily get the flu bug (always come together with cough, sore throat and sometimes fever =like a package =_=''') then why don't I try taking cordyceps to nourish my lungs so that my lungs can work better.

That makes me think back to my secondary school life, studying biology and understand that every organs in our body are working 24 hours daily. And sleeping time is the only time that they can rest but if you are like me, always sleeping late and not enough sleep, you will get sick easily, just like me :(

And so I'm going to introduce Vita Yin Yang to you guys:

 DO YOU KNOW?

Cordyceps, also known as Chinese Caterpillar Fungus/Winter Worm/Summer Grass, is one of the most precious Chinese Herbal medicines and has long been regarded as an elixir of life, consumed by the imperial and wealthy families as an exclusive nutritional supplement.

Vita Yin Yang Cordyceps by Vita Green commercialized it's Cordyceps by cultivation. It can only be found in Western China on high mountains 12,000 feet above sea level. Vita Yin Yang contains 100% premium grade pure cultivated Cordyceps.

The best health supplement for nasal allergy as it  nourishes the Lung and  Kidney Yin. According to Chinese Medicine, deficiency of the Lung and Kidney (ubiquitous among city dwellers due to air pollution) create problems in the respiratory system.

Vita Yin Yang is particularly effective in alleviating symptoms of weak kidneys. It is also a good remedy for weakness and a good enhancer for rejuvenation therefore helps reduce symptoms and prevent respiratory problems.

Excellent for battling air pollution and a must for smokers to protect the lung.

You should be able to see results e.g. better sleep, relieves tiredness within the first 3weeks of consumption. (*subject to individual's health though).

I tried for just 3 days only (1 capsule in the morning) and I can already feel not less lethargic as compared to last time.

Even Mr. Wayne Lai, a Hong Kong popular actor also a fan of it.
Is that why he always look amazing even on TV? :)

How to consume?

1 Capsule of Vita Yin Yang = 15 wild Cordyceps (in terms of active ingredient)(60 capsules per box)

 Dosage:
For health maintenance, 1 capsule daily.
For health improvement, 2-3 capsules daily.

*Tip: Vita Yin Yang can be used to boil herbal tonic soups by pouring the Cordyceps powder out of the capsule into the tonic soups.

"Showed the tip to my mum and she was like," Want me to boil soup huh? Smart hor!"

lol! I always love soup since young because of my grandma's influence.
Another great way to consume your Cordyceps too!
(My grandma's a Cantonese and boil super good soup! And now my mum took over her recipe after she'd passed away)

** No side effects. Made in Hong Kong

I'm going to continue consuming it daily and hope my lungs and kidney thank me. heheh
Available at all Guardian stores.
