[Food Review] One of the Best Dim Sum in Singapore, to me - Yum Cha Garden at Serangoon Garden Country Club

Hey everyone,

I hope October's been good for you guys so far because it's been good for me. :)

Gonna share with you guys one of my favorite restaurant that I usually visit to satisfy my Dim Sum cravings.

Yeap, It's Yum Cha and it has to be the one located at Serangoon Garden Country Club.

Why am I a regular there?
I'm basically a sucker for chili. All my meals got to have chili to go along with. And I super love Yum Cha's Sambal Chili.
This is one of the best Sambal I've ever had so far in my life. I'M SERIOUS!
*this is not even a paid ad and all base on my opinion. :)

The Sambal is THUMBS UP!

The ones that I usually order when I'm there..

Yum Cha "Sea Treasure" Dumpling
鱼翅灌汤饺

I love soup so I will usually order this because there's so many ingredients in one huge wanton!
Prawns, Scallops, Shark's fin and mushrooms to name a few.
I love how the soup taste so sweet when I break the wanton skin and letting the goodness of the seafood oozes out!

BBQ Pork Bun
蚝皇叉燒包

I don't usually have buns when I have Dim Sums because i always think that it's pretty filling to have a bun and the other food you've ordered will come to waste. But to my surprise, this is good.
Yes, it 's still quite filling for some people but this is quite well-done. The bun itself is very soft and the ingredients in it is not too salty or sweet.

Steam Creamy Custard Bun
流沙奶皇包

Oozing out those golden goodness is simply divine. To be honest, I always find it a challenge to eat Custard bun because it might get messy. Imagine the creamy custard inside the bun is hot that you want to be very careful with your first bite yet it oozes out and spill on the table and if you're not lucky, it might spill on your clothes. I remember the first time having custard bun and I actually dirtied my top. Lucky i was wearing a black top at that time. phew~ But it's good.

Prawn & Chicken Dumpling in Spicy Sauce
川汁酸辣饺

My *must-order! This taste so good especially when you have it with the chili padi. Hot, spicy and sour at the same time. Or like what most Singaporeans will say, "Shiok!" But I suggest you have it when it's served straight. it's nice when its warm but when it's cooling down, it's not that spicy.

Steamed Pork Ribs with Yam
芋魚蒸排骨

The Pork Ribs here has more meat than ribs, which is good!
Not too salty at all and the pork rib is tender and tastier. Pumpkin is soft and with flavor as well.
I've tasted very oily Pork Ribs dish before but here, it's really not oily at all. The Yam has absorbed the sauce and taste really good and soft.

Xiao Long Bao
小笼包

The Xiao Long Bao here, however, did not meet my expectations.
I would prefer Din Tai Feng's though.

XO Fried Carrot Cake

This was added as a new temporary additions and I like it alot.
It's flavorful and tasty, you might just end up having it all by yourself.
It's not too oily and you can taste the slight spiciness and the xo sauce was just right for the great taste.
In my opinion, this should be in the menu. Fix!

Siew Mai with Fish Roe
魚子蒸燒賣

One of my favorite must-order dim sum! I've tried many places, including those suppose to be popular and good, but this win hands down! The fish roe is generous portion, and each siew mai has a piece of 1 whole prawn, yes, it's not half, not cut-up and mixed sort but 1 whole prawn of it. Chewy and tasty, add abit of Sambal on top or simply dip into it. You'll not regret, i tell you.
I'm very picky with my siew mais so if there's better one out there, share with me.
I shall test test myself... ah huh!

 Deep Fried Shrimp Dumpling
鮮果明蝦角

Who doesn't love Deep fried shrimp dumpling when its done right?

Fried to perfection! Love prawns? gotta order this.
I love the crispy outer layer yet it's not oily, kudos to the chefs.
I love how generous they are with their ingredients like you will see not one but 2 prawns in it, and it tastes so deliciously fresh, really worth it!

Prawns...(*I'm salivating while typing this post. gosh! Maintain ah Zerika)

When I tweet saying craving for Dim Sum, Yum Cha always come to my mind.
Just love the sambal chili that can go with almost all dishes.

Shall visit very very soon after I recover from my sore throat and cough! :)

  1. i never had the chance to try yum cha because all my foodie buddies has went before (without me, yes) and complained they suck. i think it was some horrible services or what....
recently tried tim ho wan, but it's really not worth the time q-ing. The Cathay is not bad for their dim sum, so is Victor's Kitchen. :)
