[ Korean + Hong Kong Drama ] You who came from the stars and Glided Chopsticks

Hey all,

I've been exceptionally addicted to these two on-going Kdrama and HK Drama and would like to share with you all!

First of all, K-Drama (Korean Drama)

*
*
*
별에서 온 그대 / Byeoleseo On Geudae
Also known as: You Came From the Stars / My Lover From The Stars / You From Another Star / My Love From Another Star
Genre: Romance, comedy, fantasy, melodrama
Episodes: 21
Broadcast network: SBS
Broadcast period: 2013-Dec-18 to 2014-Feb-20

Main Cast
Jun Ji Hyun as Chun Song Yi (28, top actress/university student)
Kim Hyun Soo as young Chun Song Yi / Seo Yi Hwa
Kim Soo Hyun as Do Min Joon (alien/university professor)
Park Hae Jin as Lee Hwi Kyung (28, youngest son of S&C Group)
Jo Seung Hyun (조승현) as young Lee Hwi Kyung
Yoo In Na as Yoo Se Mi (28, supporting actress)

Do Min Joon is an alien who came to earth in 1609 and lands in the Joseon era, then lives through the next four hundred years to the present day where he works as university professor and falls in love with a haughty top hallyu actress, Chun Song Yi.

I really love how the drama started where the young Chun Song Yi was rescued and protected by Alien Do Min Joon!

Jun Ji Hyun, I can say, is a very good actress!
Very real, Very her.

While he was trying to protect her from harm, he fell deeply in love with her but he's very worried that he will have to leave this earth for good pretty soon.

He's very sensitive to human saliva because it will temporarily reduce his power of able to hear from far, place/time travels and many more..

But he couldn't resist kissing Chun Song Yi.

Well, tell me who can! If I'm a boy, I surely want her by my side!

We are looking forward to the end and hoping it's a happy ending!

It's still airing so...Go watch it!

It's super romantic, funny and cute!

Next up,

Another drama from Hong Kong..

食為奴  / Sic Wai Nu
English title: Glided Chopstick
Genre: Costume comedy
Episodes: 25
Producer: Wong Wai Sing (The Academy Trilogy, Queens of Diamonds & HeartsInbound Troubles
Production Company: TVB
Broadcast Date: February 10, 2014 - March 14, 2014

KO TIN BO (Wong Cho Lam / 王祖蓝) had been an experienced eater since youth, he knows everything about food and the taste as soon as it goes into his mouth. Unfortunately due to a family crisis, he and his loyal follower LEE WAI (Jack Wu) were forced to wander the streets and made a living off selling buns.

Because of food, TIN BO met a female street entertainer GEI MO SUET (Joey Meng), the Capital's most beautiful woman LIN YEUK BIK (Nancy Wu) and female chef MAI SIU YUE (Stephanie Ho).

I really love Wong Cho Lam. He's so good at singing and his acting is like Da-Best (in my opinion). Maybe I like him because of his jovial and funny character! Very lively!

It is also because of fate that he encountered the Fourth Royal Prince YAN CHAN (Ben Wong) who discovered his talent and recommended him to the palace to work as a palace chef. In the palace, TIN BO meets his old enemy CHOI HOK TING (Bob Lam) and set off a series of battles in the kitchen.

TIN BO also didn't know he was getting himself involved in the Eighth Royal Prince YAN YIK's (Louis Cheung) evil plot.

This Drama is still airing too and it's only till episode 6 for now.

This two is still my priority dramas ,will share more the next time yo..

Till then,

[Food Review] Seoul Yummy to the extend I crave for more!

Hey guys, I'm back to tantalize your imaginary palates again!
Read on for more!

If you are looking for a place to enjoy, chill and have great Korean food in town, do not hesitate to drop by Seoul Yummy At Bugis+! Let me share with you my experience!

Seoul Yummy situated at the popular food heaven of Level 4 @ Bugis +.

The contemporary setting of Seoul Yummy makes me feel so comfy yet so casual that I just want to enjoy the rest of my time there with my friends. I've never been to S.Korea before but always interested in their culture. I love their food, their people, their dramas and variety shows and of course, their beauty products!

I'm really fascinated by these wishing locks as one of their unique wall fence displays! It resemblance the popular fence where thousands of locks have been hung to represent the love and best wishes of their owners in Seoul. The keys will then be thrown away as an assurance to never separate and keep the vows. But of course they have a key bin for disposal nowadays. It's like Seoul in Singapore!

We started off with some light refreshment and side dishes.

Braised Pork Belly with Kimchi (S$8.90)

The braised pork belly served with the mouth-watering kimchi as sides was just heavenly. The first bite was so tender and flavorful, you just have to take the second bite and the third...

Eventually, this dish was finished by Mr Style King because he was telling us how tasty the braised pork belly was!

Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup (S$24.90 for whole chicken)

I love soup and I love the fact that the soup is so flavorful with rich stock, ginseng and glutinous rice. It's already tastefully done and the best part is that the chicken is still tender with all the flavors oozing out when first bite. And just for your information, Seoul Yummy make the best effort to source for the best fresh ginseng in the entire South Korea and fly them over to Singapore, making sure that they do it the traditional way where there's no shortcut!
Do have it while it's still hot!

"A Little of Do You Know?
Ginseng - widely used to improve overall energy and vitality. It can help improve the body's overall ability to adapt to and cope with the negative effects of physical and environmental stress. Ginseng can help enhance endurance, reduce fatigue, and improve coordination and reaction time. In clinical studies, ginseng has shown potential in protecting liver and heart health, normalizing cholesterol and sugar levels, and improving memory and learning."

The Hotstone Bibimbab (S$13.90)
This is one of Mr Style King's favorite dish as Bibimbab is a very popular dish in S.Korea and definitely a healthy choice with all the right amount of veggies, meat and protein and carbs. We usually will wait till it cools down a little, mix the ingredients with the Bibim sauce (Original) and scrap the lightly burnt rice at the bottom and mix well. Even I myself who doesn't like rice, will grab a bowl filled with Bibimbab, and finish it. That's how yummy it is.

If you are more adventurous, there's a few sauces you can choose from:

Army's Stew with Assorted Meat (S$36.90)

I can't tell you how much I love Korean Army's Stew. I'm literally a sucker to it. I'll go weak on my knees if it can satisfy my fussy crave. And guess what, I'm hooked on this! This is not the first time I tried Seoul Yummy's Army Stew in Assorted Meat, it's the 4th time I think. I can practically finish up the whole pot by myself (Okay, meat wise I have to share with someone) and still requesting for some soup refills. I love all the ingredients mixed in together; the golden mushrooms, fresh veggies, rice cakes, meat dumplings, marinated chicken, slice pork, ramen and many more. The soup base was deliciously tasted with appetizing kimchis, it makes you crave for more.

Check out below on their Army's Stew Combo promo for 2 at only S$49.90++!

At only S$49.90++, You get to choose one of the Army's Stew and it comes with 2x Korean Roasted Barley Tea, assorted side dishes, 2x multi-grains rice, 1 choice of appetiser (We love their spicy ricecake!),  and 1 choice of dessert!

It's really worth it isn't it! It's great for people who doesn't know what to order and it doesn't burn your pocket! Great Food, Great savings!

Spicy Rice Cake (S$6.90)

This is the spicy rice cake I'm taking about. I am not that into rice cakes but my bestie, Debra loves it. And exactly expected, the next few times I visited Seoul Yummy, I ordered this as my appetizer. It was spicy at first but later when you taken the first bite, the chews get sweeter and it's very appetizing because of the spiciness. I'll rate the spiciness 2.5/5 as its not that spicy (I can take spicy really well!) but the taste is yummy.
However, it does fill you up quick too, so its good for sharing. :)

Caramel with Cookies &Cream Sundae  (S$8.90)

It's really a nice way to end your meal with yummilicious desserts such as the above. I love desserts! I think it's the only food that can make me happy after a day of hard work! Well to be frank, I would definitely love to have this all by myself or at least share with my bestie but after taking photographs of the Sundae and taking the last dessert's pictures, the sundae was about to finish by Mr Style King!! Sadly, left with super little of it and I have to snatch it back in order to share with you guys how it is. :(  Anyhood,  it still taste yummy! Shall visit again and have desserts all by MYSELF!

Luckily, we have the next yummy dessert by ourselves (Me and Debra <3):

Cold Patjook (S$6.90)

It's really refreshing! I've never tried cold red bean soup before or rather they usually served hot right, and this comes with pretty heart-shaped marshmallows and green rice balls which give this dessert a new chewy feel! The Red bean soup is not too sweet and paired with the cute lovely marshmallows is just perfect! <3

[Movie Review] Confession of Murder, a Korean Action Thriller Movie starring Jung Jae-Young and Park Si-Hoo!

Attended a movie preview with my partner-in-crime for a fascinating Korean action thriller movie,
Confession of Murder starring Jung Jae-Young and Park Si-Hoo!

Thanks Omy.sg Team! :)

It was so delightful to go for movie as I haven't been going for one for the longest time!
I was thinking to myself what kind of show will it be, will it be gory? scary? bloody?

And also, as a Kdrama/Kpop fans like many of you, how can you not notice Park Si-hoo's Aw-so-handsome-looks right? :)

I really look forward to it!

Here's a little information on what the movie is all about:
Synopsis

"15 years ago, an infamous serial killing case that left 10 women dead shook the nation. Now its statute of limitations is about to expire, and a member of the victim family throws himself off a building in front of the detective Choi who is the primary detective on the case.

2 years later, a man named Lee Du-seok publishes a book titled “Confession of Murder”, claiming his responsibility for the murders that took place 17 years ago. His book becomes a huge success, making him an instant celebrity thanks to his beautiful façade and innately danger that’s associated with his presence. Choi can only watch from the sidelines as his hands are tied, because Lee has been pardoned legally.

The law forgave him, but even after the expiration of statute of limitations, the case is not yet over..."

Park Si-Hoo acted really well in this movie to the extend that I really believe he was the serial killer! His way of looking at you, with that evil smile will well be making everyone scared of him.

But at the same time, mesmerizing to some ladies! ;p
*I was literally 'ohhh..' wahh..' 'so handsome..'
annoying my partner-in-crime haha!*

In this movie, the plot is rather interesting as there's a little humor in it, there's also thrills and parts where you will get nervous wondering what's next.

*
*
*

Lee Du-Seok was set-up by the kidnappers and they'd released poisonous snakes into the pool where Lee Du-Seok was swimming with those bodyguards standing by at the poolside. Unknowingly got bitten by one of the snake and had to rush to the hospital.
But what he doesn't know is that the kidnappers have long been waiting at the Lobby to "receive" him.

The scene where Lee Du-Seok was "kidnapped" and had to brush off those kidnappers and did loads of dangerous stunts but of course, not forgetting some funny parts too.

Check out the Official Trailer:

There's many laughter and tensions in this movie and did a wonderful job bringing me "into" the movie.

I did enjoy myself as I do think many would too, if not why they laugh so much right? :)

It's worth watching but do note the duration!
Do your wees and grab your munch before the movie starts!
You won't want to miss any part of the movie, trust me!

[Food Review] CLOSED - BigBang Bulgogi Korean BBQ and Steamboat at Toa Payoh ERA Centre!

I am always a fan of Korean cuisines, be it their steamboat or BBQ or even their traditonal specialties.
It's just so yummilicious!

Okay just say i'm really tam jiak when it comes to food. heh heh..

Well, I was really happy to be able to try out this "BIG and HUGE" Korean eatery at
Toa Payoh ERA centre with Mag and MSK.

*
*
In what sense?

It's BIGBANG OMG!

Not the popular uber-hip Kpop Boyband "BigBang" but it's the
BigBang Bulgogi Korean BBQ & Steamboat!

Omo, I'm hungry already...

*
*
*
And I need to show this to you guys..
These are actually seats and it's so unique and really thoughtful!

Why I say so?

Look below..

*
*

See?

The top part is actually a seat cover, remove it and you can place your bags in it!
It's a wonderful idea to keep your bag safe and you don't have to worry that it might get stained by the BBQ oil-spots.

*
*
*
Check out the buffet spread!
Not only do you able to find the raw marinated meat and veggies for BBQ and steamboat,
there's even cooked food.

Daboki (Spicy Rice Cake) and Braised Pork Belly

Fried Sweet Potato and Korean style Vermicelli!

Kimchi Pancake and Kimchi Fried Rice
*
*
*
And here's the assortment of marinated Beef Belly, Bulgogi Beef, Herb Garlic Pork Collar, marinated chicken, Pork Belly and so on...

Sauces on the right~

Veggies and they even have pumpkin too!

Watermelon!

The popular korean ramen is available as well!

Seafood such as squid, prawn, crab sticks, fish balls and many others!

*
*
So here we go....

The handsome staff helping us to fill the soup in the steamboat pot.

And brushing a layer of oil on the BBQ pan..

That's a whole lot of meat and food we gonna stuff ourselves with!

Free Flow of Barley drink!
Taste similarly to the lemon barley from Yeo's.

Hello.. Do we look korean to you?
*
*
 Here's the food served:

Daboki aka Spicy Rice Cake!

Though it might look like as if its just rice cake and spicy sauce, it still taste pretty good but of course, it's not the best I've tried so far.

California Sushi

It's really sweet of them to served California Sushi  to their customers, because I myself don't usually eat rice but sushi, I eat! haha!

Kimchi Pancake

Eat it while it is still warm, that's for sure if you want to taste the flavorful kimchi pancake.
It's not that crispy and oily compared to some eateries.

Kimchi Fried Rice

I do enjoy this dish though mainly because I love kimchi~ <3
It is delicious when it's still warm and I love how they mixed it with the kimchi.

*
*
And we are privileged to try out the 2 different types of korean rice wine.

This is the traditional korean rice wine which you have to pour into the pot and stir, and serve in a bowl.

Check out how it is done below:

Sweet and kind manager showing us how to prepare the traditional rice wine :)

*
*
TA-DA!
A Toast to everyone!

*Cheers!*

The taste of this traditional rice wine is rather smooth and it's not the kind of rice wine which you will feel the strong alcohol taste at the back of your throat.
 I kinda like this!

And next up is the Korean most popular -

Soju!

This is also another version of Korean rice wine however, the alcohol level and the taste is stronger, that's why they used the shot glasses instead.

You have to drink the Soju at one shot and do note that it's pretty strong in alcohol content for some.
*for me, It's strong enough to make my face rosy! hehe! I prefer the traditional version better.*

Cheers!

Enjoyed myself with the right awesome peeps!
Super nice and yummy food!

What about steamboat?
Steamboat is a little norm to me as the soup base is not as flavorful but I guess we can create our own flavorful soup base by adding prawns (must remember to separate the "prawn head" so that the soup will have a strong prawn-y taste, which indeed taste awesome!), crab sticks, meatballs, squid and many others to  are added into the soup and made it even more flavorful!

BBQ?
Whereas for the BBQ, the meat is fresh and definitely the highlight of the meal!
I tried BBQ-ing mushrooms, pumpkins, of course the pork is uber marvelous, and marinated chicken, all is uber yummy!

*When we arrived at the eatery, the place was filled with customers and you can really see guys at the buffet corner piling up their meat! And everyone was laughing and chatting, and they seems enjoying themselves!

In my opinion, this is a good place to come if you are looking for affordable buffet BBQ & Steamboat. It's not only a place for food, it also a good place to chat and unwind over a drink or two after work with your friends and colleagues.
