[Sponsored Beauty Review + Promotions] New look and Healthier hair at Matsui Hair Studio at Bugis +

It's my second session with Matsui Hair Studio, and this time, the person that will be transforming my unruly hair into pretty, healthier hair is Alvin! *applause*

The moment I stepped into the studio, I noticed the wall was covered with beautiful and vibrant painting done by the very talented NAFA students!

Making the whole studio much more livelier and cheerful!

Super like the waiting/chilling area!

Like in my first post which I've shared on with earlier (*If you haven't read the 1st post, here it is!) ,
they're really experts in checking the conditions of your hair and what exactly your hair needs.

Thanks Verlyn babe for being so sweet and wait for me while I was doing my hair.
Yes, my frizzy hair really needs some tidy up!

HELP ME, ALVIN!

Alvin looks through and analyze my hair conditions before deciding what changes my hair needs.
Not only that, he even share with me the up-coming hair trends and colors to see if I'm comfortable to explore.

Alvin also suggested to have summer hair colors yet naturally looking for everyday because he knows I'm working. Very thoughtful! :)

So, he decided to have a more vibrant blend of Yellow and Pink to create some visual textures instead of the normal hair color yet it can still look natural.

Super excited and can't wait to see the result!

Pretty hues which will give the visual effect.
It can be hidden for more sophisticated look or curled outwards for more vibrant look! :)

If you're a dare-devil or a fashionista, and would love to try out different hair colors and style, do discuss with Alvin the next time you visit Matsui. He is super good at sharing with you the latest trend and colors so you'll always be the Fashion-icon!

Still maintaining my ash colors at the bottom and I'm loving it!

I like being there for hours and never feel bored because they're always checking on you at intervals and they're so friendly that you might ended up chatting like 10 years buddy! lol!

Took this while Alvin was busy concentrating straightening my hair keke!

But of course you can choose to curl it too!

Tada!!

Shiny, hydrated, no frizz, no tangles, healthy hair achieved!

On normal days which I'm a little lazy to style my hair, it still look beautiful!

Really helps to brighten my overall look especially when I'm wearing dark colors outfit!

And guess what!
It's already 3 weeks and the colors are still looking fresh and vibrant!

That goes to show the quality of the products used on me (and on all customers of Matsui) are of the best!

Thinking of making use of the GSS period to change your hair style or have a hair makeover?
Do check out their GSS promotion !!

Special thanks to Matsui Hair Studio, Apple and Alvin!

[Sponsored Beauty Review] Matsui Hair Studio at Bugis + opening special!

Hey everyone!

Very happy to announce my new hair sponsor from Matsui Hair Studio at Bugis+.

To be honest, I am very skeptical when choosing my sponsors.
Firstly, there must be some common interest and communications to begin with.

Secondly, whether I feel comfortable letting them take care of my hair.
This is definitely important as my hair is my everything. I'm sure you guys too.

And yeap, I am proud to say I'm very happy to work with them because they're very professional and friendly to speak with! And I trust them to let them handle my manes. :)

Scroll to read more on my experience with them:

Here's me on the way to the studio:

My hair's so dry that I can only apply hair oil after hair oil, yet the result is still the same. -_-'''

Let me start of with where exactly the studio is at:

  •  .  Address  .

  • MATSUI HAIR STUDIO

  • 201 Victoria Street, Bugis+ #03-15

  • Singapore, Singapore 188067

Tel: 6634 8700

Opens daily: 11am - 10pm (last appointment at 9:30pm)

Located at Level 3, It's very visible and I like the simplicity and coziness.
It's more like an open concept but it's all comfy and cozy. :)

I like that they have a corner for lockers to let customers keep their belongings.

No matter how busy they are, they will make sure you are comfortable and whether you need more drinks.

One of the best point is that they offers coffee to their customers, great for people who feels relaxed and sleepy while doing their hair.

They are that thoughtful. :)

Love the cozy environment here. It's more of a "home" kinda style.
No pressure and the staff here are super friendly and nice.

And here's me waiting for Apple, the manager of Matsui, and Chloe, the stylist that will be taking care of my hair from now onward.
I was super nervous yet excited at the same time!

keke^^
And they're really nice to make me feel comfortable and at ease. :)

I have wavy hair since young. Many people always tells me how they love natural curls but it's really one of the concern I always have: tangles.

Yes, Curly hair does tangles super easily if not taken care of properly.
Just look at my hair ends ohmygawd... so dry and it breaks easily. -_-'''

*
I'm ready for the pampering session. :)

Apple and Chloe started by re-bleaching my lower part of hair to a slightly ash color, and later touching up my top to a lighter brown than my previous base color.
I trust them as they know exactly what's in trend and suits my skin tone+look.

After which, Chloe gave my hair some pampering treatments to keep my hair hydrated, less breakage and maintain the shine. :)

They uses good quality hair products from Japan, Caretrico Privy.

I've done some research and indeed many reviews that it does help to lock in moisture and shine, reduce brittleness, resulting a smooth, manageable, and lustrous hair.

And I tell you, It's superb!
 *thumbs up*
Not that I'm being sponsored so I am saying all their goodness, but go and ask around the rest of the bloggers or people who knows me, I have dry and brittle hair for more than half of my life!
I love dye-ing and bleaching my hair because I constantly wants new look every now and then, and it's damaging to my hair and yet I don't really care, so long I have long hair.
I'm so wrong. *oops!*

haha.. it rhymes.. but i'm speaking the truth.

Like what Apple said, it's very important to do treatment and take care of my hair.

Who doesn't want lustrous yet healthy looking hair where you can still get to play with colors eh?

Here's what I did:

Caretrico Privy Treatment ( Japan hair products for salon use) consists of these 3-steps below:

Steps 1: Treatment Shampoo (5mins)
Steps 2: Treatment for Protein, Repair and Hydration (15mins)
Steps 3: Locking of Treatment, Shine and Smoothness (10mins)

You can even buy the Caretrico Privy Treatment Series back for home use and get the same salon quality care. :)

The results was awesome.
I was stroking my hair and there's no tangles or whatsoever.

You should seriously go for a treatment every now and then at the studio to help maintain manageable and healthy hair, or at least get the treatment series and do it at home. You will thank me. :)

Fluffy hair I have :)

Styling in progress... :)

About done...

I took loads of selfies to showcase my pretty hair. hehe^^
Super glad that my friends and love ones compliments that this hair color suits me very well, especially the ash color, and also my hair are much healthier than before.

Thanks to Apple, her suggestion really paid it off.

She was telling me that I'm fair, and warm colors will not bring out the fairness in me.
I'll look dull.

I've never tried ash colors before though I always wanted to but never got the chance.
It's always yellowish brown with ombre pink, purple, blue, mocha brown and what else..

I'm loving my new hair color and it does shows the fairness in me.

Now I can have 3-tone gradient hair colors (From Top): Light Brown - > Brown -> Ash

Thoughtful and not only that, she gives great suggestion!
I always wanted to try shorter hair but seriously tried a few times previously and it was a failed test.

Apple suggested to just do some trimming on my hair ends to look healthier for the first session and told me she'll consider cutting my hair shorter when I'm more comfortable.

This is all I need.
Someone that can reassures me.

Thanks Apple, Chloe and the Matsui Hair Studio team! :)

Love how the colors accentuates my overall look.

You can have beautiful hair like me too!

[Food Review + Competition] Ramen Champion 2013 at Bugis+ Launches an "Eat To Win $10,000 Cash" Challenge!

Have you been to or taken part any food challenge where you get to take home cash or prize if you win?

I have heard of it but have never been to one before though.
And I was really glad I get to be at Ramen Champion's 1st outlet at Bugis+ and get to see how excited the contestants were while I experience the intense and friendly competition at Ramen Champion where they launches a "Eat to Win $10,000 Cash" Challenge!
Also, I was able to taste 2 new Ramen thanks to Malcolm and Susan.

Weee~~

Many of you would have know by now that Ramen Champion serves Ramen of high standard and quality, and its definitely one of the best place to be if you are looking to dine for authentic ramen.
Ramen Champion outlets offer diners several ramen brand names to choose from, so you will be spoilt for choice!

Mr Koji Tashiro, creator of Ramen Champion was seen cheering the contestants making the atmosphere even more hyper fun.

All contestants are given a card (below is example). They have to follow the order to complete these 4 bowls of ramen from different brand, once completed, they'll get a stamp. And out of the 4 brands, there are 2 brands which is newly launched, Tonkotsu Itto and Mendokoro Aoi.

Here's they are, queuing to get their bowl of ramen.

And what was I doing while waiting for them to get their first bowl of ramen?

Of course to try out the 2 new highly raved ramen! :)

Tonkotsu Itto

Ranked as the no. 1 ramen shop in Tokyo and featured on Asia Best-Ever Dining Awards, Tonkotsu Itto’s Hakata style ramen is a popular choice among Japanese and ramen lovers.

My review: To be honest, I always love ramen and I am a sucker for the Tonkotsu (Pork Bone) soup broth and this is nevertheless one of the tastiest soup base I ever had. The flavor is rich, milky and was prepared in the traditional way.
I can imagine the collagen in the soup base being drank by me. Hurhur~

Using special Tonkotsu ramen to prep this bowl of ramen, its ramen is thin with tangy chewy texture. The thinly sliced pork is also soft, tender and the best part? the fats melt in your mouth. Need me to say more?

Mendokoro Aoi Tonkotsu

Awarded Ramen Rookie of the Year in 2012 by Ramen Walker Magazine, Chef Sakuraoka has established 20 outlets in Gunma, Japan within just 4 years. Mendokoro Aoi’s new twist on the traditional Tonkotsu is a popular choice among female customers.

My Review: Unlike many other Tonkotsu (Pork Bone) broth, this rich flavorful soup broth was added with chicken feet and pork to provide extra collagen, definitely a great combination to have. The flavorful soup broth was also added with garlic, ginger and chili paste to give an even mild spicier and excitement in your meal. A dash of specially prepared bean paste mixed with tomato and chilli is topped onto the ramen to complement the taste.
It's definitely one of my favorite ramen by far.

I like my meal with chili and the soup broth is so tasty. The ramen was cooked just right with enough spongy and chewy texture, making it pleasant to enjoy. Slice Pork was thicker than usual and is also soft and tender. The meat together with the spicy sesame and Tonkotsu soup broth made it even tastier.

And the egg..

It's soft and made just right though I prefer it to be more runny in the yolk.

And here, the other 2 brands ...

Menban Yamagishi Kazuo

Tonkotsu Buta God

Once they're done with their bowl of ramen, they get a stamp on their card.

Among the guys, there were a few girls taking part as well.
Near my sitting area was these 2 ladies.
Super fast and they're really good!

It all happen so fast that I haven't finish my bowl of ramen, the rest of contestants have already finished their 4th bowl of ramen.

Here are the semi-finalist where they have to compete.
The more bowls of ramen they complete in a period of time given, they get to go into the finalist round.

The atmosphere was really intense and everyone was cheering for the contestants.
Some of them were struggling to finish their first bowl of ramen and some had already started on their third. It was that crazy! I cheered for the ladies though. lol!

Those who couldn't finish the bowl of ramen or gave up halfway, will have to remove their name with their contestant number and leave it on the bowl of ramen.

The girls are pretty strong and they really fight on to compete with the guys!

Wear the right tee to get confident and motivated! Smart!

Here's some of the contestants which succeeded in finishing their ramen on time:

Number of bowls: 6

Number of Bowls: 6

Highest number of bowls of ramen: 9

It's definitely fun cheering and be part of this challenge.

8 lucky contestants will be selected to take part in the final challenge against renowned big eater Tomoko Miyake on 14 November 2013.

She'd joined multiple eating competitions and don't underestimate this petite lady here. Can you consume 100 dumplings within 6 minutes? She'd done it. Can you consumed special handmade hamburger of 4.6kg within 60minutes? She'd done it too.

And guess what?

She still weigh 40kg at a height of 152cm.
I want her stomach and her figure please. :(

Contestants, it's gonna be a challenging one!

We wish you guys good luck and bigger stomach.
